I resolved this problem which is a Win XP issue and is a known problem
with SP2. It seems to have a problem on some machines of deleting the
autoexec.nt file. This file is backed up in the windows\repair file and
has to be copied back to the windows\system32 file. It affects any
install that has to do with 16 bit application compatibility.

I'm using a zip file which contains 716 files. It unzips to c:\tmp and
then executes the setup.exe. This is when the dialog box pops up. It
never launches the exe file. We are a Sungard Pentamation site and I
received the product from Sungard.

It is build 236.37.

Hi Judy,

Which file do you try to install exactly (exact file name)? And how did
you download it (FTP in binary mode)?

Best regards,

Romain W.

Subject: [fourjs-users] Problem with Genero client install

I am trying to install the Genero client Vs 1.20.2c.exe on an XP client
with SP2 and I am receiving the following message:

Dialog box header: 16-bit Windows Subsystem

Dialog box content: C:\Windows\system32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file
is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
Choose "Close" to terminate the application.

I have tried running with different compatibility modes but it does not
seem to help. Has anyone had this same problem?? I have installed 20+
clients so far and this is the first occurrence of this error.
