We are pleased to announce availability of a new version
of
Genero, including the following packages:

- FOUR J'S
GENERO WEB SERVICES EXTENSION 1.33.1g/h

- FOUR J'S LICENCE MANAGER 5.10.1b

FEATURES IN 1.33 INCLUDE :

- New database drivers :

- Genero DB 3.x (ads3x)

- MySQL 5.0.x driver (mys50x)

- Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 (msv90)

- Oracle 10g
release 2 (10.2) (oraA2x)

- PostgreSQL
8.1 (pgs81x) Warning: Must set default_with_oid in
postgresql.conf to have UPDATE / DELETE WHERE CURRENT OF cursor
working.

- New license manager :
This release now uses
the
Four J's license manager version 5.10, which supports strict licensing.
A Genero
license which has the "strict licensing" option has no 30 days grace
period for providing an installation key. The license is only activated
(and the software enabled) after the installation key is installed.
This is an option you can specify when ordering a Genero license;
licenses without this option (the default) continue to have a 30 days
activation period.

- Four J's ESQL/C compiler :
This release
includes
fesqlc, the Four J's ESQL/C compiler which is compatible with Informix
ESQL/C. This compiler converts .ec sources to .c and links the .o
object files to the runtime system database interface, to allow ESQL/C
modules or programs to execute SQL with any database supported by
Genero BDL.

Unsupported features :

- DESCRIBE
INTO sqlda

- TEXT/BYTE data types

- System
descriptors

- Multi-byte
character sets

- GDC : HTTP proxy support with autodetection
of IE settings under Windows.

- New product : Genero Java
client 1.33.1a : This new Genero Front End can work in 2
modes, the Applet mode through a browser with a Java Runtime,
or the standalone mode. For more information you can read the
documentation and the release notes about Genero Java Client.

Additionally, this release
corrects
issues and
problems found in previous versions.

DEPENDENCIES

It is required to upgrade

- the Genero Desktop Client (a.k.a GDC) to version 1.33.1b,

- the Genero Application Server (a.k.a GAS) to version
1.32.1c,

- the Genero Web Services (a.k.a GWS) to version 1.33.1g/1h.

- If you are using a Four J's License Manager only the version 5.10.1b
is working with Genero 1.33.1b and not the previous versions.

MIGRATION

If upgrading from any prior version, it is mandatory to
recompile the source code and forms.

The software needs re-licensing every time a major
release version update is applied.
