You need to remove the org. Startmenu from the Domnode first:-

FUNCTION drop_startmenu(sm)

DEFINE aui	om.DomNode
DEFINE	sm	om.DomNode

LET aui = ui.Interface.getRootNode()
CALL aui.removeChild(sm)

END FUNCTION

sm is the domNode for the Startmenu.
