Gnutella development?

Has anyone on the list attempted to create a Gnutella servent using Adasockets? I've been reading the specs at http://rfc-gnutella.sourceforge.net/developer/testing/index.html and working on a prototype. However I'm not sure how to go about massaging Adasockets into creating the customized packets needed for this protocol. Am I correct in assuming that I would need to build them from scratch using datagrams instead of streams? Any pointers would be helpful.
