I think the routing data has to do with how the subsystem handles the request, you set up the jobqe to call QCMD. You can have the same job routed differently by passing in a different rtgdta string and setting up the jobqe to call a different process? No. In the end I had the false impression that the Name of the ASJ entry refers to the actual PGM object to start — which is wrong. RQSDTA is what I'd name "command line". After entering a CALL statement to the *PGM object, stuff now works. Thanks for your help and patience! I'm still not sure what the RTGDTA is supposed to do. :wq!
