I don't ever remember being able to compile a program from SEU, but IBM used to have instructions on editing files with SEU. But the last step was always to copy the file back to the IFS so you could compile it. As far as I know, no matter what if you are developing java on the IBM i, you will need to be able to work on the IFS.


What is the error on the mkdir command?

If you open file explorer (assuming you are on windows) and type \\ip.address.of.ibm  what do you see?

Do you have the GO NETS utility installed? http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1021773

Is SSH running or can you start it? STRTCPSVR SERVER(*SSHD)

If for some reason QSHELL isn't working, can you get on with PASE. CALL QP2TERM

I do not have access to the IFS since I cannot get the older "I Navigator"
installed or seemingly cannot get the newer ways of accessing the IFS to
work. Would LOVE to talk to someone on the phone helping me walk through
that process.

But I thought at one time it was possible to put Java programs into a
member like a RPG or COBOL program and then compile.  Was I wrong on that
thought?  Everyone - great comments - are saying allot but no one has
answered that question.
