MI can be embedded in a long -- stream -- and short of v6 will execute ..

to compile an MI .. you need feed an array of the 'code' into a 'space'

and just call the 'internal rou;tine' which resolves the code ..

AT all levels .. developers have all possibilities

---CL has some space restrictions... IBM put forth in the early 90's an PL/I expression of MI compilation ... its easy and Rochester understands that users need 'acceptance and restriction'

my guess is that V6 closes holes that existed in the iSeries hardware

i who love the hardware do so hope

Bruce,

Yes, I do remember the disclaimer about CL being the one common "language"
on the AS/400 and so, therefore, it was used to write the front end rather
than RPG or COBOL. I guess that is a valid reason. CL has never really
struck me as a "language" any more than JCL or OCL (too many limitations),
although the recent enhancements certainly have pushed it dramatically
forward (and are welcome!).

Rich
