query with date as ccyymmdd

> Does anyone know how to represent this number, 20050615 as a date in a
query (with separators)? MM/DD/CCYY. I tried a substr function to
seperate and then combine the parts with a '/', but goit really weird
results with each part. Of course I could not get the parts to combine.
