[C--] Is C-- assembly generator broken?

I have been trying to compile C-- on Ubuntu 12.10 LTS. Now, when I get to
the runtime folder, the assembler fails to assemble any of the Quick C--
generated assembly files. Is this a glitch in the code generator? Or is
there something I'm missing?
