We reason about computation for the same reason I beat my head against
the wall: because it feels so good when I halt.

Seriously, computation is how we reason. If we don't think about that,
we'll keep making the same errors. (Note that I'm not claiming whether
or not computation is the *only* way we think. Such a discussion would
be offtopic. Anyhow, the same problem is present with any system
powerful enough to model the integers.)
