That is truly terrible. It baffles me that he didn't realize what a bad
idea that was. In other words, anyone may use any sequence of words to
mean anything; but you're not allowed invent a new word.

That's the worst of all worlds: the reader can't recognise a new concept
as unknown to you, AND the writer can't tersely express new concepts.

I see why you're unhappy with it.
