I've had a friend propose the term "construction" (from FP) for what  
is currently cleave and "combination" for what is currently spread.  
Part of the motivation here was finding yet another term that begins  
with "c" for the special forms of an FP-like language:

1. Construction
2. Combination
3. Condition
4. Constant
5. Curry
6. Case

Perhaps not the best motivation...
