Friends,

It is that time of year -- time to elect a director of Project JEDI
for 2006-2007. I have suggested to Steering that we follow the
schedule we first introduced in 2004 and received no objections. Here
is the updated schedule:

May 27, 2006 - candidates registration starts, election date reminded

June 10, 2006 - registration finishes, candidates publish or
indicate location of their web pages or post information on themselves
here, and
discussion starts.

  June 24, 2006 - elections starts.

  July 1, 2006 - election stops.

  July 2, 2006 - elections results announced.

July 8, 2006 - new JEDI Director takes the office.

Some of the provisions from the JEDI Structure Document that apply are
as follows:

-	Every JEDI member should be able to vote - not only Steering members.
-	JEDI members should be able to nominate themselves and should be
able to discuss the candidates.
-	Candidates have to show support of at least two JEDI members and one
Steering Team member, before they go on the ballot
-	The poll will be anonymous using the standard poll capability of
YahooGroups. After the poll is closed, the system will generate
automatically the results, so there is no possibility to "tamper" with
the results.
-	The poll will be created on the general JEDI mailing list
([email protected])
-	The poll will be open for a week to ensure high participation;
-	Elections will be decided by simple majority, with minimum of 50
valid votes. If we don't have 50 valid votes, the election will be
repeated, and if there is still no result, the Steering Team will
decide on the new Director
-	If there is more than one candidate, s/he has to receive minimum of
51% of valid votes. If s/he does not receive it, the election will be
repeated, and if there is still no result, the Steering Team will
decide on the new Director

Sometimes Steering has modified this slightly, by entending briefly
the election period when there was just one candidate but we had not
yet reached the required 50 votes.

Everyone receiving this is a member of Project JEDI and may
participate. But you must be able to access the Yahoo site to do so.
Please make certain that you have a Yahoo ID and that it is
associated with your current Email address. Thanks to all for their
continued support and involvement with Project JEDI.

Best wishes,

Alan C. Moore
Director 2005-2006
