Friends,

We're starting a bit late this year, but it is now time for the annual
election of a Director. The Steering Team has approved the following schedule:

Today - candidates registration starts, election date reminded
June 11, 2004 - registration finishes, candidates get their web pages, and
discussion starts.
June 24, 2004 - elections starts
July 1, 2004 - election stops
July 2, 2004 - elections results.
July 8, 2004 - new JEDI Director takes the office

To learn more about Project JEDI Steering Team and election procedures,
please visit the Yahoo site and download JEDIStructure.rtf from the files section.
Some of the main election procedures include:

- Every JEDI member should be able to vote - not only Steering members.
- JEDI members should be able to nominate themselves and should be able to
discuss the candidates.
- Candidates have to show support of at least two JEDI members and one
Steering Team member, before they go on the ballot
- Candidates should create HTML pages stating how they feel they would
direct JEDI. These pages will be placed on JEDI Web

- The poll will be anonymous using the standard poll capability of
YahooGroups. After the poll is closed, the system will generate automatically the
results, so there is no possibility to "tamper" with the results.
- The poll will be created on the general JEDI mailing list
([email protected])
-   The poll will be open for a week to ensure high participation;
- Elections will be decided by simple majority, with minimum of 50 valid
votes. If we don't have 50 valid votes, the election will be repeated, and if
there is still no result, the Steering Team will decide on the new Director

Let the nominations begin!

Alan C. Moore
Project JEDI Director 2003-2004
