This is a reminder of a small subset of the rules and policies of the
forum. The full set can be found here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/KylixGroup/files/auto/Rules.txt

* Provide a meaningful subject for your questions with some keywords
  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Many of us don't have time to read all the messages, so please provide
a meaningful subject for your question, so we can easily spot the
messages in our area of interest or expertise. This also facilitates
searches, since many of us use the forum as a sort of knowledge base.
Also, try to avoid the use of words like "problem", "doubt",
"question", "need", "help" (unless you are referring to a topic
related to help, like help files), etc.

    WRONG: "MySQL"
RIGHT: "MySQL: How to reset an autonumbering field?"

* Delete as much of the original message as possible when replying
  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

To make messages shorter, at least delete footers, and previous
messages in the thread when replying to a message.

* No "Where can I find...?" or "Can anyone send me...?" messages
  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If you need CLX components, libraries, ActiveX objects, utilities,
tutorials, examples, information, etc., this forum is the wrong place
to ask. These questions usually go unanswered or they get answers like
"Try searching in a-well-known-site.com", so these questions and their
answers impact negatively on the average value of the messages. For
those who are interested in this kind of messages, we have a forum
specially dedicated to search/recommend this kind of material:

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/components

To subscribe to the Software Components forum:

    - [email protected]

* No garbage messages
  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Garbage messages are those that do not add value to the forum, and
simply serve to increase the forum traffic, thus diminishing the
average value of the messages:

   - "Thank you" messages. If you want to express your gratitude when a
forum member helps you with a problem, please send the message to
his personal account, not to everybody in the forum (i.e. not to
     [email protected]).

   - "I want it" and "Me too" messages. If you want to ask for a
component, tutorial, example, or any other meterial offered by a
member, please send the request to his personal account, not to
everybody in the forum (i.e. not to [email protected]).

   - Off-topics, advertisements, chain letters, virus alerts, etc.

   - Complaint messages. If you want to complain about anything in the
forum (like a member sending garbage messages), please send your
message to the moderators ([email protected]), not
to everybody in the forum (i.e. not to [email protected]).

* Attachments are discarded
  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Due to viruses and other reasons, attachments will be discarded. If
you have an archive to share, contact the petitioner directly about
sending the archive to his/her email address, or send a link to the
resource on the Internet, or upload the archive to the Files section
of the forum (see instructions below).

We are more than 135 members in the forum, but we are still just a few.
It's important that the forum grows in members, since more members mean
more quantity and quality of answers. For this reason I'd like to ask
you to invite friends, acquaintances, workmates and colleagues to join
the forum.

Regards,

Ernesto D'Spirito and Dave Murray
