Some Kylix Newbie Questions (API)

Hi
I used to program windows applications and now I'm trying to use Kylix.
I have a few questions regarding using API or not.

My program (console) has to get some informations like CPU and memory
usage and running processes.
I just want to know if I should/have to execute a shell and capture
the output or if there are API calls I can use like in windows.


Perhaps If somebody has also some useful www-links where I can find a
good kylix forum, source examples, articles, tutorials or anything
like this, that I can search by my own. I just knew some delphi sites
and if they have a kylix part is is very very small and not useful.
