hi, > have you looked in the /proc/ 'directory' ?. all relevant network info > should be there, listable in simple text format. well, what I first did was strace-ing ifconfig... but I've seen some differencies from my PC and another one; that is, ifconfig appears to check (try to open) for a number of files (maybe also in a certain ordrer...) to gather the information it needs... For instance, on my PC it parses the "file" /proc/net/if_inet6 while I cannot remember what was on the other PC. So, is there any file I could check (maybe inside /etc ? ) to see what I need to parse in the /proc/net/ directory?
