I also own v1 & v4. > OK, the open editions of Kylix and Delphi differ on one important point, so the answer is for Kylix -- they might be useful for learning pascal/borland object pascal, and they may be useful for documenting some of the standard functions, wherease for Delphi, they'll be a little more useful (although still out of date). Kylix OE uses the Qt based CLX libraries for visual components, whereas the Delphi OE only offers the older VCL libraries, as found in versions of Delphi prior to 6. However, Whilst I am not a delphi programmer of longstanding, I kind of get the feeling the VCL has changed a lot over the years. FWIW if you are looking for a good Kylix book, I found the Charlie Calvert/Bob Swart one to be a solid investment. -- adam
