Try using the OPENGL graphics library. Its supported on most newer 3d cards/
embedded graphics chips

There's good delphi examples of what you can achieve here

I would like to have coloured blocks fade or wipe away under certain
condition, this is for use in a game and needs to look better than
the block simply becomming invisible.

This is for use in a small project I am doing whichI am being paid
for, as a result I will need to either use code or components that
are available with no restrictions or purchasable for professional
use.

This is my first professional project and would be grateful of any
assistance you could provide.
