Kevin,

MMTOOLS is probably the best component set for your needs. I
reviewed their components about a year ago and actually they are very
good. I licensed three of the modules, mostly for wave mixing and
other gadgets they had. If you try their CD Digital Copy example,
it's really a CD ripper. Also, they have an MP* to WAV converter as
an example as well in their demos with source. We are in the process
of developing a new application and we may incorporate ripping
features and conversion functionality as functionality our
competitors don't provide. So, for what you want to do, MMTOOLS is
the choice in my opinion. But as you may have mentioned, the
components are a on the higher end of the cost spectrum.

My suggestion to you is develop your application using their trial
download. It required that you run it within the IDE, but for
development, it's really no big deal. As you progress, you can
determine if the components are really going to meet your needs and
then you can license them.

Here is the bad news. When I first licensed the modules their
support was great. I would communicate almost daily with the author,
namely Ron Dittrich. However, I tried sending a few e-mails to him a
month ago and I still haven't received a response. I noticed that
they use www.ShareIt.com to manage their registration and
distribution. You might try contacting them with questions since I
believe they have a USA number. Unfortunately, SwiftSoft is in
Germany so a support call can be expensive and hard to arrange. I'm
not sure what the delay is but I know from my perspective it's
costing them money. I want to license at least two other modules,
but I'm leary now because of the support (or lack of support)
lately. We'll see.

You probably found out by now, but there is almost no documentation
for their components at all. Their demos are very good though and if
you study each of them, you can navigate your way through your own
requirements pretty easily in most cases.

Good luck with your project and if you have any questions, I would be
happy to help if I can.

Take care,
Dave
