Yahoo truncates all email addresses (except your own)
on all web pages including the displayed messages
in the group archive and search results. You can click
the truncated address but you can't read it.

Try it. Go to the group message archive and try to get
a member's email address.

However, there is nothing to stop a spammer joining
the group and obtaining the email address from the
header of received *emails*, i.e. not via the group web
site. That is the case now and is not changed by making
the archive public.

I am the owner or moderator of 10 Yahoo groups. All the
message archives are "Public", have been so for several
years, and we have not been "spammed senseless"!

regards,

Martin.
