Yahoo truncates all email addresses (except your own) on all web pages including the displayed messages in the group archive and search results. You can click the truncated address but you can't read it. Try it. Go to the group message archive and try to get a member's email address. However, there is nothing to stop a spammer joining the group and obtaining the email address from the header of received *emails*, i.e. not via the group web site. That is the case now and is not changed by making the archive public. I am the owner or moderator of 10 Yahoo groups.
