In that case it must be a subtle difference between the handling of an API
by 98/XP-Home and by XP Pro resulting in a division by zero further down the
line or something like that.

Step-by-step debugging can be tedious but it can also reveal quite a few
problems. I think that's what is called for now. Good luck!
