Hot Delphi Tip:
Making A Project Backup:
You can use File | Save As in the Delphi main menu or you can
download Greg's Delphi Project Backup Expert (version 1.01)
This expert allows you to save ALL of the files related to a Delphi
project.
Unlike the File | Save All menu option, this will scan all of the units
in your
project and track down any dependencies (either .PAS or .DCU files).
It will search for dependencies in the current directory, and both the
global
and project-specific library search pathes.
Version 1.01 adds the ability to backup any resource files specified
with the {$R} compiler directive.
http://callatg.com/~glief/glad/#ProjectBackup
Greg Lief also has some other Free downloads like these:
Greg's Delphi Clear History Expert (version 1.0)
This expert allows you to clear the history that appears under the
File | Reopen menu option. I wrote it because my history list would
frequently get quite cluttered and I got tired of manually editing the
Windows registry.
Greg's Delphi Links Expert (version 1.03)
This expert allows you to easily jump to various useful Delphi web sites
without having to leave the Delphi IDE.
It installs as a new option on the help menu. You can add your own
favorite links as you wish.
TTrayIcon (version 1.4)
This non-visual component makes it easy to represent your application
as an icon in the Win32 task tray.
Allows icon animation, default shutdown, etc.
Original authors: Derek Stutsman and Pete Ness.
Public domain... source code included!

And don't forget to check out Gregs G.L.A.D VCL.
Greg Lief's Assorted Delphi components is a product comprised 65+
Delphi components and property editors.

More Delphi Tips from Greg Lief:
==========
FORCE IMMEDIATE POSTING OF TTABLE CHANGES
Q. I have an app that uses dBASE files.
When I add records to the file and then post them, my Delphi app sees
them
just fine.
But if I use Visual dBase to look at the file, I can't see those records
until
I close the file in the Delphi app.
Is there some caching going on that I have to flush?
I tried doing a TTable.CommitUpdates after the post but that gave
me an error ("not in cached update mode").
In the Clipper days I would have handled this with a call to dbCommit().
Is there a Delphi equivalent?

SETTING CUSTOM ROW HEIGHTS IN TDBGRID
Download accompanying example
Q. My company has asked me if I know of any third party grids that
can show different rows with different heights.
Any suggestions?

PREVENTING SCREEN FLICKER WHEN CHANGING
BORDERICONS OR BORDERSTYLE
Q. We want to use the same form in two different ways.
This involves changing the BorderIcons and BorderStyle
properties on-the-fly, for example:
BorderIcons := BorderIcons + [biMaximize] ;
BorderStyle := bsSizeable ;
But whenever I change either or both of these properties, it causes
screen flicker.
I've tried using the Windows API LockWindowUpdate function, passing it
the
Form.Handle property, but that doesn't get rid of the flicker. Is there
anything else that I can do?
