TZF - HUGE memo files

I needed to change structure of a database and used both the database desktop and dbase.exe ... Each time I got the structure changed with no problem, but the memo file grew from about 50,000 to 4MB ... I think this must be a problem with the header information. Can anyone help? A clear understanding of the header information in a dbf file would be helpful ... and how they work. If I get it totally "dorked up" the info must still be in the file, right??? All seems well with the information, but the structure grew like crazy. ???
