I had this problem with a database in a program I had released for sale. I
had defined the field as N,5,0. When the number got larger then 99,999 it
cycled back to 0. The field was a sequential counter that was used to
generate keys. That was a great mess to clear up. I redefined the database
and set the field to N,10,0. That got me upto 9,999,999,999 before the
number would cycle back to zero. I figure I will be long dead before the
counter hits 10 billion and my program will be a very minor footnote in the
history of programming.
