I don't think indexes are temp files. Normally Topaz puts indexes in same dir as the dbf. You could use the solution of Marie.

Did you visit the SSI support site? There is info on using Topaz with the database on CD-Rom. You need to change some INC file, perhaps that could help you.

  I have a DBF with an associated MDX  (eg.   fred.dbf  & fred.MDX )  - All working OK

   

  I set Active = false

   

  Delete all of the "fred" files

   

  I utilise a FileOpenDialog to allow the user to select the new version of the DBF (it is in a ZIP file & must be UNZIPed first)

   

  I REPLACE the DBF file with a new version of the DBF (MDX NOT copied)

   

  --- I do NOT change the DBFfilename property of the TTzDBF component, it still points at the correct file (albeit a new version)

   

  I set the CreateIndex property to  ciAlways

   

  When I set Active = true,  TOPAZ tries to recreate the MDX - (as expected)

  My problem is that

              If FileOpenDialog browses to the hard disk to find the new DBF file - ALL is OK

   

              If FileOpenDialog browses to a floppy or CD for the new DBF file - I get an exception error (insufficient disk space)

   

  The problem stems from the FileOpenDialog component changing the operating system "current directory". However, the problem is a TOPAZ issue & NOT a FileOpenDialog one.  

   

  Note the problem only occurs when the operating system "current directory" is changed to a floppy or a CD.

  ( I haven't tested this but I would assume that the problem may also occur if the selected directory was READ ONLY to the logged in user)

   

  Inserting a ChDir to a harddisk based directory just prior to the Active=true overcomes the problem. 

  While I could use this method to work around the problem, it would be better if TOPAZ automatically used the operating system TEMP folder for temporary files. 

   

  Is there any way to tell TOPAZ to use the "current TEMP folder" during the index rebuild rather than it using the "current default directory" 

     OR 

  do I have to go through the TOPAZ code and update it manually ?
