TZF - not only a Topaz Problem

Hello

Nice hot time to work at a computer. I do it, because I want to solve a
problem till to the end of my holydays:

I have a maskedit-component on the form with a mask, maybe 0.00.

I want to have the possibility to escape the maskedit component by using an
onkeypress event I ask the key
if key=CHR(27) then ......
but when I escape with a wrong input in the maskedit-component, I get a
EDBEditError.
But where/how can I catch the Error with a try ... except solution

Or generally how can I prevent to exit a component with another button ,
when it has not a correct input

Can you help me
