Ho Phil: Are you using large size CDR? If you have 10K each file then you are having over 700M per disk. Normal CD Drive may have difficulty to read the latest 900M disk. Recently I put a movie of two CDs into one of the 900M CDR. It works fine on my CD writer drive but it has problem on my old CD player. The audio is OK but it starts to get error pictures after 70minutes.
