I've just landed some changes to melange.

These include some patches from iglennrogers! Thanks for the contributions
and sorry that it took so long to (partially) integrate them.

melange now calls out to clang / gcc to get the compiler specific include
directory. I've also cleaned up a bunch of the include directories that
were previously included by default (especially on Linux).

And most exciting of all perhaps, some months ago, I had dug up the
documentation previously written by Robert Stockton in 1997 and begun
converting it to our current formats. This work has now been added to the
repository. There's plenty to do with the docs, like adding index entries
and updating it to reflect the current state of things such as the addition
of bitfield slots and so on.

Some of the big remaining gaps in melange are the lack of a test suite and
the poor / lacking support for 64 bit integers (which is also poor /
missing on the C-FFI side of things afaik).
