About a year ago Hans Boehm mentioned that a new home might be
required soon for the GC mailing list. I mentioned that we use Boehm
GC, also use Mailman, have been active and stable for 15 years, and
unilaterally suggested we would be happy to help.
Hans has just posted another message saying the issue has come up again.
http://www.hpl.hp.com/hosted/linux/mail-archives/gc/2014-January/005834.html
There are some bigger projects also using Boehm GC, such as Mono, but
they haven't as yet been heard from.
I don't know how many subscribers there are on the GC mailing list,
but the message volume is similar to our own -- that is "trivial".
Most months seem to be about 30 messages or fewer, though November
2012 had 71. Running my eye quickly over
http://www.hpl.hp.com/hosted/linux/mail-archives/gc/ it looks as if
the entire archive from 2002 to now is maybe 2-3 MB (zipped). Such
load. Wow.
Technically, I'm sure it's the work of a few minutes to set it up and
transfer the archives.
Do we want to more formally make the offer?
("we" .. I haven't been active here for some time :( )
