Same here, iow. I belive that by using static type annotations, one can
help compiler to produce better/quicker code.

I believe that besides 3rd party C library and sqlite3 bindings, as well
as having decent GUI bindings, there is not much what we need which
should not be present in any decent language standard's library.

Somehow I do not have good feeling about Java - maybe because I was
hearing too much about 'writing once, run anywhere' which was simply not
true and today I do not run any Java app on my desktop.

I shortly took look at Scala, didn't like syntax, not too excited about
JVM and there is same problem with lack of GUI (no SWING/SWT please).
