Re: The web site blurb needs fixing

There does seem to be something a little weird in the construction.

Something like:

Welcome to ERights.org, home of E,
a secure distributed pure-object language.
E is especially suited to:

list starts - p2p scripting down here with perhaps an expanded
description of what that entails.

I think thought the change of the text is borne upon by the question
of who your target audience is?
And depending on that answer the whole first page may need to be changed.

The current site suggests the following to me (note this is just from
looking at it):

1. This is primarily an academic project
2. It will probably have some really interesting things to read about
and play around with but I will not be paid to write applications
using this technology.
3. If I write applications using this technology I will totally be
fired if anything goes wrong, and probably even if it doesn't.


The text of the earlier blurb - with its "for writing Capability-based
Smart Contracts." fits into the view that the layout gives me. It's
also beneficial because it tells me at the top some of the terms that
apply to the academic nature of whatever the site is about (although
'Capability-based security' would be much better in communicating to a
programmer with academic interests [as opposed to someone with a focus
on E type problems])

The text change you are advocating suggests a target audience of the
kind of people that are not 'rank and file' programmers, are often
allowed a wide latitude in the programming languages and technologies
they choose to implement things in, have a strong CS background or
understanding but are not academics, and are often early adopters and
advocates of new technologies. Of course that audience is pretty
comfortable with academic projects but I think there is still a
benefit to not seeming academic when appealing to them.
