Perhaps we should have:

  STRING_.concat(<<once "1", once "2", once "3", once "4">>)

Strings are indeed somewhat trouble in Eiffel. Although the default case
is safe, immutable strings and syntactic sugar for efficient string
concatenations would have been nice.
