Usage of XPath

If you are looking to use XPath, it is always best to use the very
latest code in CVS, as I am continually fixing bugs.

You can't modify XML files using the Gobo XPath implementation - at
least, you can't with the 2 current tree implementations.

It would be possible to build a virtual XDM tree over XM_DOCUMENT, and
you could then perform modifications via the virtual layer, but that
would be a non-trivial project.

What are you trying to accomplish with XPath?
