No, the intention is to run it without gc. I've specified
garbage_collector internal but that's when compiling with ISE. I think
gec ignores that.

But I think I found it. STRING_8.wipe_out allocates a new area every
time, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid. I'm using
STRING_.wipe_out now which works a lot better: memory usage is only 20MB
instead of 80MB.
