Yes, there has been a request for that a long time ago
because ecb compiles faster than ec.

No, this is not currently possible. I think that a better solution
would be to ask ISE to make sure that ecb and ec be compatible.
 From a user point of view, the fact that they are not compatible
is hard to believe.
