Eclipse plugin and IDE

Hello,

For my CNC product i need to develop a user interface
which communicates with other parts of the system
through ethernet.

Most of the system is developed with SmartEiffel.
Until now I'm very happy with SmartEiffel. But for the
GUI part I think Eclipse platform maybe a better
choice because I can then reuse many codes and
concepts from the Eclipse projects.

I've heard that SmartEiffel 2.2 will support java vm.
How difficult is it to use SmartEiffel 2.2 to develop
Eclipse plug-in? I don't want to rewrite my eiffel
classes with java.

By the way there are now many Eclipse IDEs for Eiffel.
Which one should I use?
