Re: Own Id and git commit

This ticket OTP-12448 (Improved error handling when memory allocation 
for HiPE code fails)
seems to have been lost. It was never merged into OTP-17.5.

It's mostly a code cleanup however and the only change in behavior is a 
nicer out-of-memory-crash.
