Brilliant idea!

But I had it first :-) http://www.bluetail.com/~luke/shbuf/

My version uses an Erlang server to share a buffer between Emacs
clients. For consistency, one client is "master" at any time and is
allowed to make changes. There's a command to takeover as master.

The user-interface isn't much fun to use. It really needs a smarter
way to auto-takeover or something.

This was written before Distel, using my old 'erlext' library. It
would be cleaner to do it with Distel, or to make it properly
peer-to-peer by using the CVS version of Emacs which supports
server-sockets.

The very best way would be to make a Distel clone that is completely
peer-to-peer and pure Emacs without any Erlang. That would be Really
Good. I've been wanting to do that for some time, but am seriously
busy with other Emacs hacking [1] for the next few months at least..

Cheers,
Luke
