Received the core dump. In this GDB session (https://gist.github.com/nox/6623009) you can notice at the end that HiPE tries to patch a LOT of fun entries for the same erl_prettypr:lay/2 function. This is because I forgot to strip the eta-abstracted id annotations when compiling local fun references to Core Erlang in v3_core. I amended the first commit of that branch to fix that. Please refetch.
