At the time, several. I used it at the university Utrecht, Cyber.
(I was in a seminar with van Wijngaarden.)

The most relevant and recent development is that there is an algol 68
front end for the gnu compiler collection.

Note:
The official document was considered way too long for a language
description. Actually it was smaller than the DPANS Forth document.
Times change.
