Resource files

I have not understood some points about the resource files, wich seems
already clear to others:

1. how is one supposed to write portable code if the interface is
designed in platform specific resource files, wich are loaded with the
appropriate system call? e.g. how does an application behave on gtk if
the interface is specified in a .nib file?

2. maybe we will have an intermediate resource format?
