Addon installation - Whats the magic commands?

Ok.. I like to think I am a smart dude.. but I admit. I have no idea how the addon build process works or the rest of it apparently. :) I've tried for a few hours before giving in to posting here. 

On a clean REL5 box I have Io installed and running. So far, so good. It installs certain addons 'automagically' and they are there in /usr/local/lib/io/addons and seem to work. All I wanted to do is install the Regex addon and no combination of anything I tried (or read to try via a net search) has worked. The closest I got was to cd to the Regex directory type cmake ..; make and copy the result to /usr/local/lib/io/addons dir... but that bombed as well (said it could not load Range even though Range was working.

The CMakeList.txt file in the addons directory does not have the Regex addon commented out, but it does not get built nor installed.
