Hi Antti: I hope you got my thoughts on PyBytes and found them useful. It's clear you have a good understanding of the languages (e.g. spotting that we need a __new__ in this case). The Jython core is difficult to understand. I've stopped grumbling about that in public, but I'm still regularly foxed by it. You don't seem to have had much problem. I don't think Jython 3 will lessen the inscrutability that in the short term. Some of your questions here are better answered by Jim or Frank.
