According to jyni.org, on 2 Aug 2015, Jython 2.7.1 was expected to be
released Nov 2015.

What work can a 4-year user and potential developer help with to make
progress towards a solid 2.7.1 release?
Is it too early to start writing code and unit tests for Jython 3?
