Putting python on the search path

Hello, I am new to jython, which I installed on a Macintosh computer running MacOS 10.10. I wonder if someone on this list would be kind enough to tell me how to put jython on my search path (I want to access it from the terminal). I have jython 2.5.3 installed in my home folder.
