Ken Anderson, who seems to have played a key role in making LL4 happen,  
apparently passed away earlier this year (see  
lambda-the-ultimate.org/node/view/494 ).  My guess is that this might  have something to do with LL5 not taking 
place this year.
 
I haven't attended the LL conferences, but I've watched the online videos  
and found them pretty interesting.  I didn't know him directly but  appreciate 
the role he played in the past couple of lightweight  languages events.
