This distinction has long become irrelevant, as people abuse names and terms like "symposium" seem to mean anything you want. More to the point, it doesn't matter what you call it: it's the policy that determines whether you can re-publish or not. While I sympathize w/ Emery's concern, I think any policy at all is a good idea given the current intellectual cloud over this matter, and this one is *not unreasonable* (intentional double-negative).
