But if I am not missing anything, then that means that, for instance,
Word8Vector.vector should NOT be an equality type! Certainly SML/NJ
says that it is an equality type. I know that they are not the ultimate
authority, but it is hard to imagine that that the intent was to make it
so that
fun f (a: Word8Vector.vector, b) = a = b
would not type check.
Still, that is what page 211 of the basis library book seems to imply to
me. Isn't this either a bug in my understanding of what 211 says, or a
bug in the basis library spec?
