For a long time, SourceForge did not support VHOST to their HTTPS hosting.
But, that seems to have changed since the last time I checked:
https://sourceforge.net/p/forge/documentation/Custom%20VHOSTs/

Currently, the DNS is configured as: www.mlton.org CNAME to
vhost.sourceforge.net
but it would need to be configured as: www.mlton.org CNAME to
vhost2.sourceforge.net

AFAIK, Stephen Weeks is still the one maintaining the mlton.org DNS records=
.
